- ItemContribución de la gestión de Consulting Group Ecuador al sistema de salud: un estudio del voluntariado 2018-2023(2024-09-25) Zurita Guevara, José Roberto; Benavides, Alexis; Zambrano Ibarra, Alexandra Lilibeth; Pedraza González, Xenia; Vaca Bedoya, Marco AndrésThis study assessed the impact of Consulting Group Ecuador (CGE)'s management on the optimization of eco-nomic resources in the health system of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas through volunteer work (2018-2023). A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional descriptive design was used. The sample included five auxiliary qualifications and three health mentions, totaling 4,800 graduated students who completed volunteer hours. For data collection, a registration form was applied, allowing for the systematization of variables such as: year, qualification, number of graduates, volunteer hours, and the economic value of such contributions. The analy-sis included a time series evaluation and cross-tabulation to identify trends in annual economic contributions. The most significant result was that the economic contribution peaked in 2022 with $2,251,664, coinciding with a higher number of graduates that year and, consequently, an increase in the number of volunteer hours completed. Volunteering has been a key resource for the health system; through the synergy achieved in this activity, CGE has significantly contributed to critical health areas such as the COVID-19 pandemic and has simultaneously managed to strengthen the practical training of students.
- ItemEficacia de una metodología de educación digital en la enseñanza de anatomía y fisiología: un estudio cuasiexperimental(2025-06-10) Zurita Guevara, José Roberto; Fernández Pérez, Mery Valeria; Olvera Cisneros, Marco Antonio; Tipán Villalta, Viviana ElizabethTeaching anatomy within technical health education programs involves numerous difficulties, especially in fostering spatial awareness, recognizing anatomical structures, and translating theoretical knowledge into practice. This research investigates the effectiveness of digital educational tools—specifically the Atlas 3 platform—in enhancing hands-on anatomical learning for students enrolled in an Emergency Medical Technician course. A quasi-experimental approach was adopted, involving a sample of 23 students. Two assessment tools were administered to evaluate anatomical comprehension and familiarity with digital resources. The collected data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, with a focus on the paired samples t-test. Results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ performance after engaging with Atlas 3: anatomy knowledge scores rose from 6.4 to 7.7, and proficiency in using digital tools increased from 5.5 to 8.2. Statistical analysis confirmed these differences as significant (p = 0.019). Overall, incorporating digital platforms like Atlas 3 into anatomy instruction proves to be a valuable teaching method, enriching student learning and supporting skill development in technical healthcare training environments.
- ItemEpidemiología, diagnóstico y manejo de la hipertensión arterial en Ecuador: Un análisis integral desde una revisión de la literatura(2024-05-20) Pineda Varela, Ramón Edecio; Zurita Guevara, José Roberto; Morales, Juan Pablo; Solís Loor, Teresa Antonia; Zambrano, AlexandraThis study addresses arterial hypertension (AHT) as a critical public health problem in Ecuador; it examined its epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and risk factors. A literature and documentary review methodology was used to analyze publications between 2018 and 2024, which included scientific articles, books, and theses available on recognized platforms such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Dialnet. This method ensured the accuracy and relevance of the information by applying strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a specific focus on studies on epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and risk factors of arterial hypertension in Ecuador. The findings reveal significant variability in the prevalence of HT among different regions and de-mographic groups, highlighting the need for culturally tailored management and treatment approaches. The importance of early detection and effective management of HT was highlighted to prevent serious complica-tions in vital organs and reduce associated mortality. The conclusions underscore the urgency of improving diagnostic and treatment strategies, integrating both pharmacological interventions and lifestyle modifications. It identifies the need for more personalized and culturally sensitive public health policies to address variability in the prevalence and management of HTN. The study also recommends strengthening public education and awareness of HT to encourage earlier detection and effective management, with a view toward future research that will delve deeper into the causes of the observed disparities and develop more effective intervention me-thods that consider genetic and environmental factors.
